AI is bullsh*t but so is everything else.
If AI is coming for our jobs, why aren’t we saying “yes! please, take them!”?

If you can be replaced by AI, it means no part of you
not one bit of the essence of who you really are,
No, not even that thing you think you’re good at,
actually goes into the thing you spend most of your waking hours doing.
Your job contains 0% you.

So, why do you care the robots are coming for your job?
You have to care because you’ve got bills to pay and rent is never optional.
And here is where we go off-road into Crazy Old Man Cobb Country, fasten your seatbelts, keep your arms inside the car.
What if AI eating your job, my job, their jobs is not the root problem, it’s just a symptom?
The arrival of AI just unmasked the whole fraudulent shebang. Tearing the mask off the reality of the world of work like it was a Scooby Doo villain.
The jobs we depend on are just an arbitrarily created dependency. There’s nothing innately human about them at all!
Promotions, the open plan, commuting, spreadsheets, office days, Microsoft Teams.
What does any of it have to say about being human?
It gets really interesting when you get to the exceptions, the jobs that AI can’t do: childcare, nursing, cooking, and creating a home.
“Women’s work”, unpaid labour, the ‘zero skills’ work.
If a machine can’t do them, how come they’re ‘zero skills’?
Imagine a CV where valuable skills were: noticing things, listening well, feeling the sun on your skin, listening to the breeze in the leaves, enjoying a full belly, being kind, your house special fried chicken recipe (vege/ vegan options are available!), and making others feel seen.
That’s the real work.
AI is just a player. Break the game.
